Greetings, My husband is desended from the youngest of Samuel and Fanny Dingman's children, namely Samuel Benjamin Dingman. We too have not been able to take the tree any further back, unfortunately. However, I do have a couple more bits of information for you though. Samuel (the elder) died October 13, 1869, in Elk Twp, etc. Also he and Fanny were married December 7, 1841, in Lobo, London District, Ontario, Canada. He served in the civil war. He enlisted August 12, 1862 and was in the K Company 22nd Infantry Regimant. Enlisted at Elk as a private at the age of 44.
Mustered out at Nashville TN on Jun 26, 1865. Those records are available from the National Archives.
Joyce
