Dingman's Ferry is in Dingman Township, Pike County, Pennsylvania.

There was a Judge Daniel Westbrook Dingman who was a member of the Pennsylvania Legislature and a Pike County judge for 26 years. Dingman Township was created in 1832 and named for Judge Dingman. He was a grandson of Andrew Dingman who first went to the area about 1735 and started a ferry at what is now Dingman's Ferry. I do not know Judge Dingman's father's name. (I note that your Judge Dingman was from Dingman's Ferry and had a son Andrew and a grandson Daniel.)

Andrew Dingman (the first of Dingman's Ferry) was probably the Andrew / Andries Dingman who was born about 1711 to Jacob Dingman and Eva Swarthoud. Jacob was born about 1675 to Adam Dingman / Dingemans (born 1631) who went to the New Netherlands (as it then was) in the mid 1600's from Haarlem, Holland, and Aeltie Jacobse Gardenier -- Adam was living in Albany County, New York, by at least 1655.
