I just started looking into this and thought I would share some information after looking at this forum. My ggrandma was Caroline Elizabeth Dingman Zimmerman. She was born in 1887 and she died 1977. Her ggrandfather was Judge Dingman. We don't know if that was his title or name. He belonged to the Presbyterian Church in Dingman's Ferry. We are not sure if he was from England or Holland. Her grandfather was Andrew and her father was Issac Dingman, a miller. She had an Uncle Alfred, who went by A.S. Dingman. He was a merchant. He owned a store and he was also the county commissioner. Uncle Daniel was a doctor, Uncle Abram or Abraham was a lawyer, and she had another uncle who was a blacksmith, but we don't have his name. She knew that some fought in the Civil War and some where in Gettysburg, but she didn't know who. Her mother was Charlotte Conklin from Port Jervis. Here are her brothers and sisters: Andrew, Paul, Helen, Dora, Evangeline, Mary(who died real young) twin boys that died at birth and a half sister named Melissi. My ggrandma, Caroline, went to school in Dingman's Ferry, lived in the house at the foot of Dingman's Fall. They had owned land and Dingman's Falls and Silver Thread Falls, but as far as she knew they lost the property to a cousin with the last name of Quick. We believed they owned the Inn by the Bridge. If you can add anything like dates or where did the family originate from that would be great. Thank you.
