I am searching for the husband of Myra A. and father of the following children: 1860 Ashley Co., AR census lists: Myra A. Barnes b-Georgia 1816 John W. Barnes b-Georgia 1839 Mary E. Barnes Bates b-Georgia 1840 Nathaniel H. (Nat) Barnes b-Georgia 1842 Francis Barnes b-Alabama 1849 They were living in the household of Marion Bates. Mary E. is listed as his wife, and they had 2 sons. John W. later served in the Civil War and and married Sophronia A. white Shockley. They had 5 children. He died about 1889 and is buried in the Trafalgar Cemetery, Ashley Co., AR (no dates). Nat died in Goldsboro, NC during the Civil War. Francis (Sarah Francis) married Ransom L. Chambers and they had 4 children. She is my great-grandmother. I have not been able to locate them in the 1850 Alabama census. Marion Bates was listed in the 1850 Alabama census living in the household of his parents. We have several "Old letters" that refer to the above 4 children as being cousins to the children of Thomas P. and Elizabeth Barnes Dingler; therefore, our assumption is that the father is either a brother or cousin to the above Elizabeth Barnes Dingler. I have much information on these families (Barnes, Bates, Dingler, Chambers, Gregory, Turnage, Burchfield, and Shockley) and am willing to share. Hope someone can help me with the father.
