Peg, my mother was born May 8, 1926 so she is 75. Her adoptive mother told her that her biological mother was a prostitute (but her biological brother's adoptive parents told him that the mother couldn't support them). My mother remembers a few men being around but they may have been relatives of her mother. She thought her birth name was Anna Dingler and the birth certificate her mother gave her said the father was unknown. However, when she applied for a passport, the birth certificate the government had on file said that her name was Mary Ellen Dingler. Father was Harry Dingler and mother was Jess Cooper. My grandmother adopted my mother because she had extremely curly blond hair and blue eyes, and I guess she thought mom could be another Shirley Temple. Mom has lost contact with her biological brother. The last she heard from him was about 13 years ago. His adoptive name is Ken Jones and the last we knew he was living in Largo, FL, unmarried, with his mother who had Alzheimer's.

Please keep in touch and let me know if any of this fits with your family tree.

Tim Lutner
