Thanks Julie! I guess those Dingles are all related somehow -- Callington is very close by, and was where my Hills (i.e., I think, the brother of the Jane Ann who married John Dingle) had settled in 1851. John himself went from Stoke Climsland to Saltash.
But me, I'd just be a distant in-law, so I'm probably not going to try to sort them out either. ;)
I'll post back at this forum though when I get around to ordering John Dingle's son's birth cert (I usually try to wait until I have more than one thing to order), for anyone interested.
