There is an error in Ancestral File that shows parents of Sally Chitwood (m. Capt. Henry Farley) to be John & Rhoda Chitwood, of Franklin Co, VA. John (d 1831 Rocky Mt, VA) son of John Chitwood & Elizabeth Tillotson, of Chesterfield Co, VA & Franklin Co, VA. John (d 1798 Franklin Co, VA) son of Matthias Chitwood/Cheatwood (d 1755 Cumberland Co, VA) & wife Mary Key, dau of Richard Key.
That Sally Chitwood (dau of John & Rhoda), b 1783 VA, d after 1850, m. 1802 Franklin Co, VA, Dudley Lumsden, b 1769, d 1841 VA.
I am very interested in specifics of Capt. Henry Farley's marriage to Sarah "Sally" Chitwood. Could it be possible that John Chitwood & Elizabeth Tillotson had another daughter? This John Chitwood's will (d 1798 Franklin Co, VA) only mentions 3 sons (see: . ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/franklin/wills/chitwd1.txt ). A deed from his father-in-law, John Tillotson of Chesterfield Co, VA (dated 1753) names a daughter Ann. The three sons of John & Elizabeth Tillotson Chitwood:
1) Joel Chitwood, m. Sally Cantrell - dau, Sally Chitwood, m. 1796 Patrick Co, VA, Wilson Penn
2) John Chitwood, m. Rhoda … - dau, Sally Chitwood, m. 1802 Franklin Co, VA, Dudley Lumsden
3) William Chitwood, m. Susannah Nowlin - dau, Sally Chitwood, m. 1815 Franklin Co, VA, Eli Perdue
Unless a coincidence or just a popular name, it would seem that the 3 brothers possibly had another sister named Sally?
