I have a Robert Dines in my ancestral line, from Dorcester Co., Md. He was a son of Jeremiah Dines who immigrated in the mid 1700's from England. He had 6 children and Robert was the 4th. There were only 3 Dines' families listed in the 1790 Md. census and the ages of the others would seem to indicate your Robert would not be among them. Do you have any other names or dates? I am wondering if your Robert was possibly a sibling of Jeremiah.
