Hi,
Thanks for your message.

My George Dineen was the son of Michael Dineen born C 1800
Ballymoden,Bandon.

Family history has it he went off to war with the Devonshire Regiment and this is supported by his records which I got while in London. He supposidly left with a brother, though this I have not been able to substantiate. They both aparently served in Canada where the brother eventually settled.
George went on to escort convicts to Tasmania after his discherge from The Chelsea Pensioners. He settled there in 1848 at Westbury which was an Irish settlement. There are a number of other Dineens from Ireland who also settled there and I am in the process of trying to find the connection or not.
When I was at Kew there was another Dineen listed but at present I am unable to lay my hands on the details sent to me. It is possible my George could be a brother to Patrick b 1804. Patrick, Honora, John and Tomothy are all names in the research I have for Tasmania.

If you come accross anything I would be pleased if you would keep me in mind and I will file your reply in my Dineen research, and contact you with any further details as they come to hand.

Good hunting
