Hi Donald,
Since I posted my last response to your message I have made contact with distant Dineen/Dinneen cousins in the US. They are descended from your John CRONIN and Alice DINEEN through their daughter Mary CRONIN, baptised 24 Dec 1843 who married John DINNEEN on 9th June 1867 at Knockaderry. They followed their son John Joseph DINEEN (He came to Chicago about 1887) to Chicago along with other children. They arrived in the US on 4 June 1897. Another son James (a Chicago policeman) served in US Army in WW1 gained rank of Captain he with his cousin, Major Pat CRONIN went back to Ireland taking the Thomson submachine gun with and to train the IRA in it's use. (This is mentioned in Tim Pat Coogan’s biography of Michael Collins)
I can give you contact details of a couple of your American Dineen cousins.
