From the files of the late Dr. Richard Miller, "the expert" on Dimmitt genealogy:

Comfort Dimmitt b. 1780 Baltimore co. MD; m. Joseph Shreeve 21 Apr. 1803 Baltimore co. MD; d. 26 Nov. 1862 Westminster, MD (which later became part of Carroll co. MD). Joseph was b. 30 Nov. 1774, d. 10 Sept. 1858; he had been previously married to Asentah Green, who d. ca. 1802.

Comfort was the daughter of William and Rosanna (---) Dimmitt; William b. ca. 1736/37 Baltimore co. MD, d. 10 Aug. 1825 Baltimore co. MD.

William was the son of Thomas Dimmitt, who was b. ca. 1708, d. ca. Apr. 1748 (both in Baltimore co.); m. Sophia Stansbury 26 Dec. 1734 Baltimore co. MD.

Thomas was the son of William Dimmitt (b. ca. 1650, d. 1710/11 Baltimore co.) by his second wife, Susannah Cole.
