all i know about my john william diment is he was born in 1870 and mum said he was from bridport in dorset. he always hoped to go back there.he lodged with his aunt and uncle called clark in merton surry. he was a railway clerk then.he married an eliza kimber when he was 16 and they had a son john charles. he was then working as a hansom cab driver.his first wife died in a fire at dundonald road merton and he married my grandmother alice elizabeth diment in 1904.they had ivy 1905-1918 lily mabel 1907{my mother} then they moved to ilkeston derby to work with the horses in the mine as cars were replacing the cabs and his eye sight was not very good.they had violet in 1910 and william 1912.he died of a bad chest caught from being down the mines in 1937 and that is all i know of him.
