Andrew Dillon, Orange Co., VA.

  of 2991

I'm still looking for any information on Andrew Dillon of Orange Co., VA., his life, origins, wife's name, etc. The information I have is:

1782, Aug. 1--VA. Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 13035 for 5,119 acres issued to Andrew Dillen for 8,191 pounds current money.
1783, Jan. 10--entered 5119 acres on Treasury Warrant No13035 on Tygart's Creek, Fayette (now Greenup) Co., KY. with Simon "Canton" (Kenton). Andrew's name spelled "Dilling."
1785--Andrew Dilion on tax list, Orange Co., VA., 1 other person in household
1785, March 18--Survey of 5,119 acre Tygart's Creek tract for Andrew "Dilling" and Simon Kenton filed by James "Dilling" and Heber Jones.
1786, June 22--Appointed overseer of Germanna-Wilderness Road, from Rapidan River near Culpeper Co. line to Spotsylvania Co. line, replacing James Gordon, Orange Co., VA. (Orange Co. Minute Book 2, 364).
1787--Andrew Dillion on Orange Co., VA. Tax List A, 0 white males 16-21, 3 blacks over 16, 1 black under 16, 2 horses colts or mules, 7 cattle.
1787, Feb. 27--Tygart's Creek tract granted to Andrew "Dilling" and Simon Kenton.
1801, Sept. 28--Administation of estate granted to James "Dillion," Orange Co., VA. (Orange Co. Minute Book 4, 326).
1802, April 13--Division of Tygart's Creek property, then in Mason Co., KY., between heirs and Simon Kenton; Dillon heirs receive 2684 1/2 acres.
1804, Apr. 23--Appraisal of estate, Orange Co., VA. by Arcelus Hawkins, Robert Gaines and Reuben Hawkins returned and recorded (Orange Co. Will Book 4, 98).

He lived in the eastern part of Orange Co. There are no deeds recorded for him in 18th or early 19th century Orange Co. (Letter from Ann Miller, Orange Co., VA. Historical Society, Dec. 21, 1982).

There are also estate records for an Andrew Dillon in Fairfield Township, Butler Co., OH.--appointing Thomas and Elizabeth Dillon administrators on Oct. 21, 1803 and recording an inventory and appraisement on Feb. 18, 1804. Is this the same man?

Land records in Greenup Co., KY. indicate he had 2 sons, Thomas of Culpeper Co., VA. and James, who settled in Franklin Co., KY.

I have info. on descendants I'm happy to share.
