We are pleased to announce the formation of a Y-DNA surname project for DILLON at Family Tree DNA. The DILLON surname Y-DNA project welcomes all variations of this surname as participants including DILLION, DILLEN, DILLIN, DULON, DILLOW, DELO. (Please feel free to suggest a variant of this surname that we have missed.)

Y-DNA testing is an additional ‘tool’ for genealogists which can be used to prove or disprove traditional genealogical research, determine relationships and may help provide direction for further research. Y-DNA testing does NOT replace the traditional genealogy research that we are engaged in. A Y-DNA Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test. Females do not carry their father's Y-DNA and acquire a new surname by way of marriage, so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father's father's father's...) with a Y-DNA12, Y-DNA37, or Y-DNA67 marker test. Females who would like to check their direct paternal line can have a male relative with this surname order a Y-DNA test.

The goal of the DILLON project is to help all DILLONs (or variant surnames) to find common ancestors and establish connections among the various families.

Please check out all of the tabs on the website to see lineages already tested. We would be very happy to answer any questions.
