I am a descendant of Samuel and Eliza Dillon. Eliza died 1863 in Elizabeth, NJ due to injuries from her husband. They had four children and their youngest, John Samuel Dillon is my g-g-grandfather.
I am unable to find out who Samuel Dillon's ancestors were or what happened to him and his other three children. They were:
Edward b. 1855, Thomas b. 1857, and Mariah b. 1859, all born in Elizabeth, NJ, I believe. 1865 NJ Census shows that Thomas and Mariah were in an orphanage, but I can find anything since then about them. There is a family anecdote that says Thomas became school superintendent of some NJ schools.
If anyone knows anything about Samuel Dillon or his family, please let me know.
