I have a Patrick Dillon in my ancestry for about the right time period. His father Denis Dillon was born in 1844 and Denis' father was Patrick Dillon, a farmer in Trieneragh.(There is a Patrick Dillane listed living in Trieneragh in 1851, I’m guessing there was a name change.) Patrick's mother was Elizabeth (Bess) Doyle.Bess Doyle’s father was Eugene Doyle, a farmer of Ballyouneen. They married in February 6, 1868 in the chapel of Ballydonoghue, lived in Trieneragh Co. Kerry and proceeded to produce eleven children. The names of the children are PATRICK b. 5 Nov. 1870, Ellen, b. 8 March, 1872, Bridget, Nora, Eugene (HUGH) b. 4 June, 1874, Mary Anne, Katharine, Margaret, Elizabeth, John, and Mathew.
The Dillons and their cousins the Naughtons came to live at Killaghy Castle through an arrangement with a close relative, a Kerry priest named Mathew Dillon. After spending a few years in Mullinahone Denis dies and two years later there is a murder trial.Patrick is acquited of the murder of his father. The period after their son Patrick's murder trial is ambiguous. I'm not why they lost their rights to Killaghy Castle. The family returned to Kerry before coming to New York.
On April 1, 1897, Bessie Dillon (Denis widow) and her 16 year old daughter
daughter Kate disembarked in New York from the ship "Majestic" which left
Ireland from Queenstown, Cork. They were joining one of her sons, Eugene (HUGH) already
living in New York. The younger ones joined their mother and sisters as soon as they finished their schooling. At least four daughters worked as nurses. It is unsure where Patrck went.I have heard he went to London. John a younger son was studying for the priesthood in Ireland and much to his family's distress decided to run away to join his family in New York. Do you think this is the same Family?
