Dillon, Syracuse, NY
I am trying to find a brother of my great-grandfather who was supposed to have gone to Syracuse, NY.His father,Tom Dillon, of Cloneross,Clonoulty, Co Tipperary married Brigid Dwyer of Brucka,Clonoulty, Co Tipperary and had 7 sons and 2 daughters:
Anastatia who died, Kitty (Catherine) who married Michael Dwyer and lived near Clonoulty,Co Tipperary having 5 sons & 2 daugters), Matthew (nothing further known), Tom (who went to Syracuse, New York, and had one son who married in USA.However according to the family gravestone in Clogher he died in 1867 aged 25 years so maybe it was some other son who went to New York), Charles who died 1870 aged 24, Ricky who died, Tady died 1868 aged 22, Tom & John (my great-grandfather) who married Alice Britt 6 Feb 1872 and died in 1882.
The names on the gravestone in Clogher are Thomas, Timothy (presumably Tady), Charles & John and also their mother Brigid Dillon alias Dwyer.
Tom Dillon’s father was Charles Dillon of Two Mile Borris and his mother Kate (Anastatia) Kearney. The father of Charles Dillon was Richard Dillon and his wife was a Crowe.
I would love to know who this Dillon is who went to Syracuse and had a son who married there. The info was written on a family tree made out by an aunt of my father in the 1950s.She would have known these Dillons but her son was taking down the details and somewhere the facts clash.
Any ideas?
