firstly, where is stewart co?I am also hunting ofr Dillon's.does this ring any bells for you?My grandmother, Susan Dillon born 30.11.1871 (?)(mother Mary Ann White and father William dillon) was, according to astory told me by my father, `one of 17 children who lived somewhere along the Irish coast and hunted for mussels to eat'.the next info, I have is of Susan sailing for Australia on an assisted passage in 1891 to Townsveill, and then marrying my grandfather Robert Cairns (who came from Kircaldy)in 4/1891 in Herberton, Queensland.Thye stayed there a whil, having 3 daughters, then sailed to SA so he could fight in the SA.War. Strangely her marriage certificate records that she tto was born in kircaldy and i am sure that is not true.On the ships's register she is listed as able to read and write, a domestic servant, Protestant, from Fife!! so I don't know if she had gone to Scotland first from Ireland, met robert, thensailed out to join him there or what!! does this link with any of your info?.
