August Dillman, b. in Germany, came to US abt 1859. Had two brothers. One went South and fought in the Confederate Army. August m. Justina Koenig, who d. in 1889. She had two sisters, one of whom was named Kate. August was a tailor and made uniforms for the Union Army. they lived in New York City.
August and Justina had eight children: Peter (d.at 7 yrs from vacination; Joe (d. at 29 yrs of consumption; Eddie (married and had three children, two of whom died; the 3rd, Henry, had Kathleen, who was adopted and lived in waterbury, CT); Henry (d. in 1922); Gussie (m. William G. Baldauf and had six children, 3 of whom died; Harry was a bachelor, and Minnie m. fred Hewitt and never had children; Willard m. Elsie Birge and had son Richard Baldauf);Nicholas had Walter, Minnie, Albert, and Richard;Charles wa a bachelor; and Annie who had Alwin and George.
