Hi Raygena: Well, I have to disagree! Sorry about that! The Andrew Dillman who married Anna Barbara Roush was born 21 Oct 1751, and died 21 May 1823 in Bracken Co., KY. I believe that the two Andrew Dillmans were probably cousins, and they have been confused before in many records. Although the statement is made that much of the research done heretofore was from 'family tradition', I believe that MOST of it can be traced to two sources: Some DAR work done by a Mrs. Baer many years ago and housed in the DAR library, and the book written by the family association in 1910 in Illinois that included the Houser, Rhorer, Dillman and Hoover families. My own research is based on these two sources, as I'm sure is many others. In addition, Augusta [Dillman] Thomas wrote up a history on her branch of the Dillman tree, and this may have been where the confusion began. [I will have to check my notes on that.] At any rate, there were TWO Andrew Dillmans, contemporaries, who lived in the same basic area for a time in PA. One branch of the Dillman family is said to have settled in VA, [I believe this was the George Dillman group] and another in KY around 1794/95. It is the KY branch that was 'our' Andrew Dillman of RW 'fame', and for whom a descendant wrote the poem "And Andrew Dillman Answered "Here". If anyone else has more clarification on this matter, I'm sure we would all enjoy hearing about it. I have copies of the three items I have referenced, and would be happy to look up any information for anyone who needs it. June
