I was looking for relatives and ancestors in the Civil War, and was surprised at the number of Dillman men who served in the Union army from the state of Indiana. I compiled this list, first by looking up Dillmans in the index at the National Archives, then by checking that list against the Indiana Adjutant General's Report. I also cross checked to see which soldiers had pension files, either invalid or survivors. There were some discrepancies. I did not look up any service records or pension files, although if a pension file exists, I put a "(P)" under the name, with an explanation. "M.O." means mustered out. Here they are, in order of the regiment number, with their place of residence at time of enlistment, rank, unit, and dates of service:
