I guess it is about time I contributed to the latest postings on this subject, having just allowed some time for things to settle down again after my latest Dillingham related visit to the US.

This will be covered in my 2007 Dillingham Newsletter either as a direct email or on the website. The site is down at the moment, but should be back soon with either the same or a new domain name. If it is the latter then I will post the new name on this site at the earliest opportunity.

Now to Robert Dillingham of Maryland or Enigma #1 or the sundry other names are used to describe him. I know that a lot of research has been done over the years (especially through my friend John Dillingham of Kansas MO) to try to establish his origins in the US. And I do have a couple of scenarios that could lead to a Robert Dillingham from the UK being in America at that time, but this is really just conjecture on my part.

Aside from this, the possibility that his name might have been Gillingham, Billingham, Willingham or even Dillington or another corruption must be considered. The name Dillingham may also have been an alias.

Really, all options are still open. Please email me if you need any further information.

Dave
