The Robert Dillingham you have referenced is believed to be the common ancestor of the Southern Dillinghams, according to a Margaret Wallis Haile, in her book, "Dillinghams of Big Ivy, Buncombe County, N.C. and Related Families", pg. 3.
This book was originally published in 1979, reprinted 1985. Ms. Haile has since been deceased.
My line goes from Robert to his son William (b. 16 January 1714) in All Hollows Parish, Md. by his second wife, Catherine (unk.).
