You are correct in your assumption that "Lizzie White" was a Dillingham and also that she was the sister of John Vachel Dillingham. THey were both children of George S. and Jane (Young) Dillingham. "Lizzie" was actually Elizabeth. She was born about 1828, however, I have no information about her death date. I do have her recorded with the same 3 children as listed in the 1880 census, but I wonder if Josephine was actually her biological daughter. According to that census, Josephine was 16 in 1880 so she would have been born about 1864, if this is correct. The problem with that is, Elizabeth Dillingham married Benjamin "Josiah" White, May 20, 1866 in Caldwell County, Kentucky. It seems probable that either the census age is wrong, or Benjamin may have been married before. Considering both Benjamin and Elizabeth's age in 1866, a prior marriage does seem possible. Maybe Josephine's mother died at her birth. It would be interesting to see a copy of her obit or death record as either one might clear up this question.
