I'm going to add some information from the DeWoody book by Brightwell. " George Wade DeWoody (brother of William d.DeWoody who married Margaret Miller Dillingham) married first wife Mary Ellen Summers on 28 June 1865 at Marion,Il. Mary Ellen was born on 27 Jan. 1842 in IL. , died on 27 June 1909 at Summersville, Missouri, and is buried in Summersville Cementery. Her parents were Kate Dillingham and Robert Alexander Summers.Ellen Summers first husband was Wesley Pate. Eight of her children were still living in 1900, including the two Pate boys.George and Mary Ellen Summers DeWoody had 12 children, 6 living in 1905: 1.Martha Ann DeWoody, b. 20 June 1866 2. W.E. DeWoody, b.15 Oct. 1868 d. Before 1898 3. George DeWoody , b.11 May 1869, d. before 1898. 4.Alfred Cyrus DeWoody b. 16 Oct. 1870 5. Infant, no name, born dead 11 Aug.1872. 6.C.M. DeWoody, b. 11 Aug.1873.d. before 1898. 7. Elton DeWoody, b. 15 Jan. 1874 8. Albert L. DeWoody, b.9 Oct. 1876, d. 26 Nov. 1897 9. Matthew Shields DeWoody, b. 15 March 1878 10. Margaret E. DeWoody , b.15 May 1880 11. T.J. DeWoody, b. 7 Dec. 1881, d. before 1898 12. Thomas Lawrence DeWoody, b. 8 Oct. 1883".I will add another quote " In 1855 Alfred Dillingham and a neighbor south of Bank Lick Creek,Levi Summers, organized the Methodist church known as Dillingham Shed. Part of the Dillingham homestead was given for the churchyard and cemetery. Alfred served in Co.H,Eighty-first Illinois Infantry until he was severely wounded and captured by the Confederates at the battle of Guntown.
