The last record found of James Sr., is enumeration in the 1830 census of Caldwell County, Kentucky; James Dillingham and wife, both aged 60-70, and no other members of the household. There is an old Dillingham family cemetery near Tradewater River in Caldwell County with only three marked graves, and about fifty unmarked. It is probable that James is buried here, however, the burial site of James and Hannah Dillingham is unknown.

What leads you to believe James died in 1828?

What information do you have to link Margaret Hannah to James? Our records of James and Hannah (Young) Dillingham don't include Margaret Hannah as a child of this family, however, it is possible. I do have the following children;
William Young, b. 1789;
Elizabeth "Betsey", b. 1791;
Mary "Polly" Hughes, b. abt 1792;
James M. Jr., b. 1796;
George S., b. 1798;
Stacy Matilda, b. 1802

I also show that James was the son of Vachel Dillingham and his first wife Ann ???, rather than Hester Rentfro. Vachel and Hester were not married until July 1765. James is thought to have been born about 1758.
