Hello everyone, I'm still trying to discover what became of Alice Sarah Dilley born in Islington, London in 1893. Her parents were Alfred Dilley (born in Hitchin) and Sarah Munt. Alice had several siblings born before 1891. They were: Nelly (or Eleanor, possibly) Dilley born circa 1892; Florence Dilley born circa 1896, Lilian May Dilley born 1898; and George Alfred Dilley born 1901. There were probably more children born after 1901. I know that Alice lived (probably working as a servant) at 38 St George's Road, SW1 around 1918. I do know that Alice had one child, my grandmother, out of wedlock while at this address. Alice kept the child for two or three years before putting her up for adoption. I don't know why she did this. I can't find evidence of her death or her marriage to someone. The family rumour is that my grandmother's father had been a French soldier. If any of this story rings a bell, do get in touch! Thanks, hannah Notify Administrator about this message?
