There is a great narritive on the meaning of the Dille/Dilley name on page seven (7)of the following book;

THE DILLE FAMILY
THREE HUNDRED YEARS in AMERICA
By George Earl Dille, Josephine Kaye Dille and Earl Kaye Dille.

It would appear that the 'DIL' part of the name date to before 1150. "Dil is a Celtic root meaning love".

You should get a copy of this book as it presentd a view of our "Euorpean Beginnings".

John Dilley
