Dear Dillaway/Delaway, Dilaway, etc. Descendants,
I am glad we finally have our own forum. Now, perhaps, we can find some elusive records.
My first documented DILLAWAY begins with John DELAWAY/DILLAWAY b. Ma about 1733. Died,Thomaston,Lincoln, ME,12 Jun 1803. He was a "cooper' from Boston, was stationed at Thomaston during the Rev. War and married the widow of John Shibles, Mary CARNEY, abt 1778. She was the daughter of Nellie O'MURPHY and Thomas CARNEY from Cork, IRE.
John was Town Clerk, Selectman and Rep. to the Legislature.

I would be interested to see if anyone has documentation tying 1.John to earlier DILLAWAYS in Boston. I do have a large assorted Dillaway list done by a genealogist prior to 1910 of all the family he could find but no proofs.
