John Dillard married Alcey Gutherie on 26 MAY 1814 in Person Co., NC. From the notes I found, John Dillard was the son of Richard Dillard and wife, Susannah Chapman.
Person Co., NC served as an elopment destination for
Virginians since Halifax Co., VA. was just across, and
adjacent to, Halifax Co., VA. Richard Dillard is listed
in the Halifax Co., VA. personal property tax lists for
1789 and 1798 so I feel sure this is the correct parentage
for John Dillard. There is a Humphrey Dillard that shows up in the 1798 personal property tax lists in Halifax Co.
and I suspect he might be of this same family. Does anyone
have any pertient information on Alcey Gutherie, wife of
John Dillard?
