I am searching for any information on Minerva Dillard, b. c1828 in Mississippi, who married William Cheatham Huntsman, b. c1820 in Kentucky. These are my paternal 2nd great-grandparents. The earliest mention of William being married to a Dillard was in the 1846 Texas Republic Poll Tax list. However, William's wife is listed only as "Unknown" Dillard. I might also mention that two other Dillards are listed on this same Poll Tax list: William and Z. Dillard, but it is unknown whether Minerva is in any way connected to either of them. "Unknown" Dillard did not become Minerva until I found them both in the 1850 and 1860 census reports living in Houston Co., Tx. They had the following children: William L. Huntsman, b. June 1849 Jenny Huntsman, b. c1852 John [or James] Huntsman, b. c1853 Maude D. Huntsman, b. c1856 Mary Louisa Huntsman [my paternal great-grandmother] b. July 14, 1859 Margaret Huntsman, b. c1862 William and Minerva both died prior to 29 July 1870, the date of the census. During that year the children lived with a 50-year-old widow, Mary Thompkins, in Huntsville, Walker Co., TX. I have the Huntsman side pretty well researched, but not a single thing on Minerva Dillard. Any help would be appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
