Benjamin Dillard b c1783 in VA, d 18 Aug 1857 Plymouth, MA age 74-8, son of Nicholas and Betsey Dillard, according to his record of death. I found information indicating that he was the son of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Courtney) Dillard of Kings and Queens Co., VA in Virginia Soldiers of 1776, compiled and edited by Louis A. Burgess, originally published by Clearfield Co. 1927-1929 and reprinted in 1973 by GPC Inc. On pages 1466-1467, Benjamin Dillard is named as the son of Thomas Hill's deceased half-sister, Elizabeth Courtney, wife of Nicholas Dillard. Further, Benjamin Dillard of Plymouth, MA is named in the will of his uncle, Phillip Courtney, along with his brothers Thomas C. of Gloucester Co., VA; Robert P. Dillard of Gloucester Co., VA; Edmund P.; and sister Ann who mar. Samuel Burch. Benjamin Dillard mar. 4 times: (1) Mary "Polly" Covington 28 Nov 1804 at Plymouth, MA; Mary died March 1807 at age 22. No children; (2) Mercy Ellis 27 Mar 1808 at Plymouth, MA; Mercy died 28 March 1824 at age 44. Mercy and Benjamin had 5 children, all b Plymouth: a. Mary b 25 Dec 1808 b. Nancy b c22 Oct 1811 c. Betsey Courtney b c1815 d. George E. b c1817 e. Benjamin b c1823 (3) Nancy (Covington) Churchill, date unknown; widow of Samuel Churchill; no children with Benjamin; died 22 Dec 1849 at age 67; (4) Betsey (Wilkins) Fisher 1850; Betsey d 4 July 1870 at age 82-7-2 Notify Administrator about this message?
