I am looking for fellow descendants of John H. Dill and Rachael Johnson of Hendersonville, NC.
If any of the information below looks familiar or plausible to your linage, please contact me.
Note:
*** I have found someone that claims his line includes John H. Dill as a brother and places him as a son of Garison Reynolds Dill and Louisa Eliza Davis; however, I cannot find a strongly supportive historical document. I believe his research to be true, because my grandmother remembers having a cousin with the name of his mother that went to Ebenezer Baptist in Hendersonville, NC. ***
John H. Dill is my 2nd Great-Grandfather. He was born in Greenville County, SC in 2 May 1843, as I understand it. He died and is buried in Hendersonville, NC in 19 Dec 1928. His death certificate states "don't know" for both mother and father but clearly states that he was born in SC. The obituary states that he was a "Soldier in the Confederate Army"; however, there are at least three possible matches.
He was married to Rachael Johnson, daughter of James H. Johnson and Mary "Polly" Stepp. Rachael Johnson was clearly born in NC -- probably the Henderson County area -- Abt. 1855. She is said to have died 27 Sep 1932.
There children were, as shown on the Census: Lillie Dill, Jack Dill, Henry Dill, Charles Dill, and Thomas J. Dill.
Thomas James Dill was born 25 Jul 1875 and died 28 Sep 1945. His wife was Mary Sue Brevard (20 Nov 1883 - 10 Oct 1967), daughter of David Franklin Brevard and Jane R. Merril.
Their children are: William Dwight Dill (26 Jul 1909 - 2 Feb 1986), Nannie Louise Dill (B. 16 May 1913), Emma Jane Dill (B. 1919 - D. Abt. 2004), and Mary Rachael Dill (B. 1925).
William Dwight Dill married Phebe M. Carver.
Nannie Louise Dill married William Garrett Ramsey.
Emma Jane Dill married Henry Hubert "Doc" Griffin.
Mary Rachael Dill married Raleigh Warren Talley, son of Willis Russel Talley and Ola Cecil Granger.
