John H. Dill and Rachael Johnson of Hendersonville, NC
Posted by: Paul Brown (ID *****6577) Date: January 16, 2009 at 08:09:24
  of 1843

I am a direct descendant of these individuals.

I am looking for more information on John H. Dill(1834-1928) and his wife, Rachael Johnson(abt. 1852-1932) of Hendersonville, NC. John and Rachael are the parents of James Thomas Dill (1876-1945).

John H. Dill's death certificate states that his father and mother are unknown. It also states that he was born in South Carolina on 16 May 1834. There is a Henry Dill of Hendersonville noted as the Informant, whom I understand to be my Grandmother's brother.

Census records are quite unhelpful for me at this point, because there are several 1860 census listings for John Dill in both North and South Carolina.

Rachael Johnson's date of birth is unclear and duely noted on her death certificate. It does state that she was 82 years old however. The death date stated is 27 Sept. 1932. She is noted as being burried in Ebenezer on 28 Sept. 1932. I am pretty sure they were referring to Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hendersonville, because it was the family church. No doubt, both John and James Thomas are buried there with many other family members, and I grew up attending an occasional Sunday Service there with my Grandmother. Rachael's father is noted as James (or perhaps, Jamus)Johnson -- there's an unclear middle initial. Rachael's mother is noted as Pully Stepp, which I suspect to be either a nickname or an alias.

I am looking for any an all information that can be known about all these people and their families.

Thanks,

Paul W. Brown
