I may have stumbled on to the answer to this question today. I have been trying to determine the identity of a Betsey Dill in Greenville County. There are four legislative petitions in the SC Archives concerning this person. I don't have the petitions yet, but here is the index information. Series: S108092 Reel: 0034 Frame: 00503 ignore: 000 Date: 12/16/1830 Description: COMMITTEE ON PENSIONS, REPORT ON THE PETITION OF BETSEY DILL. (2 FRAMES) Names indexed: DILL, BETSEY; DILL, HIRAM W.; DILL, MANLEY F.; DILL, RUNNELLS G.; RICHARDSON, C. T. Locations: Document type: REPORT OF LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE Topics: PENSIONS, COMMITTEE ON Series: S108092 Reel: 0034 Frame: 00505 ignore: 000 Date: 1831 Description: COMMITTEE ON PENSIONS, REPORT ON A REPORT ON THE PETITION OF BETSEY DILL. (2 FRAMES) Names indexed: DILL, BETSEY; SHAND, PETER I. Locations: Document type: REPORT OF LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE Topics: PENSIONS, COMMITTEE ON Series: S108092 Reel: 0034 Frame: 00509 ignore: 000 Date: 1831 C. Description: INHABITANTS OF GREENVILLE DISTRICT, PETITION AND SUPPORTING PAPERS REQUESTING THAT BETSEY DILLS PENSION BE DISCONTINUED. (47 FRAMES) Names indexed: BAILY, AUSTIN; DILL, BETSEY; DILL, JESSE; DILL, JOHN; DILL, REYNALDS; DILL, STEPHEN; DUNAHOO, DAVID; HALCOMBE, JOHN; LISTER, ADAM; PARDEE, MILTON Locations: GREENVILLE DISTRICT Document type: PETITION Topics: PENSIONS AND ANNUITIES Series: S108092 Reel: 0034 Frame: 00563 ignore: 000 Date: 12/3/1831 Description: COMMITTEE ON PENSIONS, REPORT ON THE PETITION OF SUNDRY INHABITANTS OF GREENVILLE DISTRICT CONCERNING BETSEY DILLS PENSION. (2 FRAMES) Names indexed: DILL, BETSEY; DILL, JOHN; JACKSON, DAVID; RICHARDSON, C. T. Locations: GREENVILLE DISTRICT Document type: REPORT OF LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE Topics: PENSIONS, COMMITTEE ON My first impression was that this was the first wife of Runnels Dill because he is listed among the names indexed for Betsey's petition. But, that is not possible because her petition is dated 12/16/1830 and Runnels married Evaline Hooper on 07/06/1830. Today, I found some Dill information among SC Audited Accounts. I just posted on this genforum a transcription of such an account for Evaline Dill. I also found an account for this Betsey. I ran out of time and did not get it copied, but I did glance over it. Betsey is the widow of a John Dill. So, I also am looking for a John Dill who died before 12/16/1830. As it turns out, Joseph Dill and Nancy Loftis had a son named John. Joseph lived in Rockingham Co., NC before moving to Greenville Co., SC. So, his son John could fit both our searches. Don Bennett Notify Administrator about this message?
