When I first tried to find out what happened to David Dill's son William I could find no Wm except the one you are concerned with. The Dills were Prsbyterians but the NcLatchys were Baptists and William, his wife and children all appear in the census as Baptists. Later, I found a Dill family bible at the Nova Scotia Archives and David was not married until 1814 and his son William was born June 27, 1831 (just before his father was lost at sea returning from Grenada). So your William still remains a puzzle. Sorry to mis-lead you. But the 1871 census data is as published except for my note at the top.
