Giles Dill 1865
Posted by: Michael Estes (ID *****6632) Date: February 05, 2004 at 19:41:20
  of 1843

I am looking for information on Giles Dill, born April 9, 1865 in Missouri.

On the 1870 census from Webster Co. MO.-Union TWSP.- Page 36, it shows a Giles living with a widow (mother?) and other children. Not positive this is him, but the name and age fits. I have not seen this census and do not know what the other names are.

In 1880, Giles is shown living with Thomas Martin (brother-in-law) in Granby, Newton CO., MO.

In 1890, Giles Dill married Hettie J. McCleery in Shoal Creek TWSP. Newton Co., MO.
In 1910 they moved to Mays Co. OK.
Giles died in Pryor OK. June 13, 1947.

I have been told by family that they believe Giles was of Indian descent, but not sure if he was full blood or not.
His parents, (parent?), were killed in a raid when he was young. Giles was hidden in a pile of hay, or a brush pile.

Any information that someone might have on possible family members would be a great help.

Thanks,
