The reference I have to a James DiGiacomo is in a very distant collateral line. A Genario (James) DiGiacomo is shown as the son of a brother of Rocco DiGiacomo. Rocco lived in Philadelphia and was the father of an early and locally prominent Philadelphia immigrant named Phillip DiGiacomo. Genario lived in New York (this is all I have) and may have been born in the time frame you indicate. Genario's son was also named James DiGiacomo. He was a priest who wrote several books on theology. They are still in print (check Amazon). This is all I have. If you make a connection let me know.
