In my research I have found that George W. Diggs parents are not John and Elizabeth. Instead they are the parents of George S. Diggs. I have followed the trail and found George S. married Melinda E. Druley. Where as my great, great grandfather (George W. ) married Mary Alice Van Horn, Diggs and later Duckett.
If you look at the 1900 census you will find George S. Diggs still in Missouri and married to Melinda and George W. Diggs married to Mary Alice.
There is only one census where George lists Ohio as his parents birth place all the rest say Indiana. Right now I am looking at William and Rachael Diggs as possible parents to George W. Diggs. William's birth place is listed as Indiana and Rachael is Ohio. Which could be the reason he lists both places on different census.
Another clue is that George and Mary Alice end up in Holt county Missouri and Rachael and William and their married children end up Andrew county, Missouri which is right next to Holt.
I am still researching and have not proven yet that William and Rachael are George W. Diggs parents, but know that John And Elizabeth are not.
