Do you have any idea where your family lived in the 1800's? My husband's family was from Louisa and Hanover Counties, Virginia.

There seems to be two branches of Diggs who settled in the 1600's and 1700's in Virginia. The Royal Governor Edward Diggs/Digges who settled near Yorktown and John Dege who settled in Gloucester or Matthews County, Virginia. I seem to be one generation from determining which family my husband descends from. Edgar and Edward are names used frequently by both families.

I wish you luck in helping your grandmother's research.
