From page A5 of the Wednesday, May 10, 2006 Beatrice (NE) Daily Sun: Walter Sherman LEMON, 74, Beatrice, Neb., died on Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Nebraska Heart Institute Heart Hospital, Lincoln, Neb. He was born on March 13, 1932, in Beatrice, Neb. Walter attended grade school in Rockford, Neb., and attended Beatrice High School. He built grain bins, and later worked construction and moved houses for Wes Berry. He served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic in the motor pool from 1952 to 1954 in Germany. He returned home and farmed the family farm and worked at Kees Manufacturing for 14 years as a tool and die maker, press operator and maintenance. He married Rita DIGGS on August 29, 1965, in Beatrice. He worked as a Pinkerton and Guardsman Guard and attended the boiler at Store Kraft in Beatrice, Neb. He worked on the line and drove delivery truck at The Bakery in Beatrice, and did custom haying in southeast Nebraska and northern Kansas. He owned and operated Walt's Small Engine Sales and Service from 1979 to 1990. He was an over-the-road truck driver from 1990 to 1995. He worked for the Beatrice Daily Sun as an independent contractor after retirement until the present time. Walter enjoyed fishing, woodworking, inventing new things, was an avid farmer and enjoyed going to auctions. He also loved country music and visiting with friends. Survivors: wife, Rita L. LEMON of Beatrice, Neb.; son, Lester E. LEMON of Beatrice, Neb.; daughter, Charlene L. HINTZ and husband, John J., of Wymore, Neb.; cousins; and many friends. Preceded in death: parents, Percy R. and Ethel A. (VAN NESS) LEMON; sister, Mary Louise LEMON; maternal and paternal grandparents; grandson, Henry Aaron HINTZ. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, 623 Elk Street, Beatrice, Neb. Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, Diller, Neb. Visitation: Friday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. until time of service. Memorial has been established to the family with the mortuary in charge.
