The JOHN and THOMAS DIGGS who show up in the 1820 to 1840 census records of Louisa Co., VA were brothers. Their parents were JOHN DIGGS and LUCY. If they had siblings, I have not been able to locate them yet, and I do not know who the siblings might have been for the JOHN married to LUCY. The sons, THOMAS DIGGS and JOHN DIGGS, also named sons, JOHN. As yet, I have made no connection to my early JOHN and the WILLIAM DIGGS who moved to Anson Co., NC. along with some of his siblings.

From what I have gathered on the internet, the WILLIAM DIGGS who married JUDITH HAYLEY and moved to Anson Co., NC was descended from MARSHALL DEGGE/DEGGES who came into either Matthew or Gloucester Counties of VA in the late 1600's or early 1700's. Other researchers are positive that MARSHALL DEGGE/DEGGES was not related to the Gov. EDWARD DIGGS/DIGGES.

The names of JOHN, WILLIAM, and EDWARD seem to run in both families.
