I read with interest your message which showed Victor DIFFY as son of Alexander DIFFY and Mary LOW. I have an indenture from Hancock Co IN.,dated 23 Mar.1878 which shows Isaac UNDERWOOD conveys to Victor DIFFY of Baltimore Co. MD., 6 and 3/10 acres in Sect. 9, Twp. 16, Range 6.
Isaac UNDERWOOD is the son of my g-grandmother, Mary Jane Kennedy UNDERWOOD, by first husband, John. He was the administrator of my gg-grandfather, Thomas KENNEDY'S estate and the portion of land he was selling was where Thomas K. resided prior to his death, 12 Dec. 1876.
Also, of interest: On the 1900 census of Adams Twp., Hamilton Co.IN. I find Thomas RAMSEY, b 1852, in OH mar. to Catherine b. 1848, in IN: Listed with them are step-children, Victor DIFFY b 1884, Charlie DIFFY b 1886, Theo DIFFY b 1888. Living with is Ella? RULEY b OH, listed as "aunt".
The RULEY surname is of interest in that Eliza Ann KENNEDY, sister of my g-grandmother, Mary Jane Kennedy UNDERWOOD, mar. Christopher RULEY, 1846. Wonder how/whether these persons are all related?
