John,
I think this Owen Diffey is the son of Victor Diffey. On the 1860 census for Victor there is an Ewing/Erving that I think may be Owen. He is listed in 1860 as 29 years of age, making his birthyear as 1830 or 1831 which is mighty close to 1833. As you can tell from the 1850 and 1860 censuses, they weren't consistent with ages. As for Victor's son Ewing/Owen, he is not with Victor and his family on the 1850 census. Instead he is probably the Owen Duffy (not Diffey) on the 1850 census in Baltimore City, Ward 14, page 445 living with John B. Stammar and family.
