Hi Janet,
I have the following information on John Dietz from Nicholas Co., WV.
John Dietz b 9 May 1807 married Sarah Louisa McClung.
John's father was William Edward Dietz born c1754 in Bonn, Westfalen, Germany.
John married Jane (Vanhor, Vanhob) Walkup.
Jane was born c1775 in Rockbridge, Co., VA. Her father's name was Robert Vanhob. The old spelling was Vanhob/Vanhor but has been changed to Walkup.

John and Jane were married 20 July 1796 in Augusta Co., VA.

I hope this information will help you. I have been trying to connect William Dietz and my Johann Philip Dietz but I don't think there is a direct connection between the families. My family lived in the Rockingham/Botetourt/Alleghany/Summer Counties in the late 1790s and into the 1800s. Our name was changed to Deeds and there are decendants living in WV and VA today.
