Update: I have found out through my aunt, that the correct spelling of my grandmother's maiden name is Deitz. Apparently, the spelling of this surname determined where they came from, with the e first they were called "white russians" and with the i first they were considered true Germans. I found out that grandma was born in Knox,Minnesota. Her father's name was Frank Deitz and her mother's name Catherine. They landed at Ellis Island, but date is not known.
