My grandfather was Charles Elmer Dietz born 1916 to Elmer and Marie (Liebmann). Elmer's father was Conrad and that is all I know. Charles grew up in Jamaica, Queens, Long Island and was imported to play French Horn in the then Portland Symphony (now Oregon Symphony) and brought my grandmother Klara Maiglow out for a visit and eloped and settled here. I know that my grandfather stayed with aunts in Baltimore during some of his childhood, so am wondering if there is some connection to the Baltimore Dietzes? I also know there is a family rumor that there is some Iroquois Indian (and Mohawk nation has been mentioned) from the Dietz side so maybe there is a relation to Albany Co.? I'm trying to trace when our family came to the U.S. and where in Germany they are from.
