I am searching for any connections to Louis [also seen as Lewis] Deets, b. 1836 in the Mainz, Rhineland area of Germany. He came to America when he was 7 years old, I do not know if he came with his parents or friends or other relatives. Tradition says that the name was originally Dietz, but was changed due to "political reasons". Louis lived in Philadelphia for 3 years after his arrival, and then in Massilon, Ohio until 1850, when he moved to Whiteside County, Illinois. He married Margaret Wetzel in the 1850's. Any help on his parents or siblings? Thanks, Matt
