Additional 1900 Census data and Passenger ship listings have led me to believe that the following information can be added to my original note about Frederick and Elizabeth(Alster) Dietz from Newton Street, Greenpoint Brooklyn.
It appears that Frederick Dietz's father's name was Gottlieb Dietz who arrived in America in the Port of NYC on theship Germania in 1863. He was 25 at the time making his birth year Approx. 1838 and he was from Baden - Baden.
The 1900 Census lists his wife as being Theresa and that they were married for 22 years or approximately in 1878. Theresa was born in New Jersey in January 1852. The addreess where they lived was 502 Graham Avenue in Brooklyn which should be right around the corner basically from the Newton Street address in Greenpoint Brooklyn where my grandparents raised their children. There are 6 children listed:
Frederick, born April 7, 1872 indicating he was born possibly of a previous marrage. He died January 17, 1943.
Louis was born in Aug 1878, Charles in Jan 1881, Lizzie listed as a step daughter, was born in Aug 1881, Sophia born in April 1883 and Amelia was born in Jan 1891.
If any of these names and dates ring any bells, please share any info that you have. I can be reached at [email protected].
