All,
In Mike's entry on the Dietz Forum he mentions the towns of Rockenberg and
Nieder-Morlen.I checked Map Quest and found that these towns are about 11
minutes apart by car. This could just be a coincidence but it's worth a
follow-up.Many of the names mentioned as threads to Mike's message are similar
to those in my direct line which based on Baltimore church records is from
Nieder-Morlen and I wanted to find out if there was a connection.
Passenger ship records for the Ship Emil shows that they arrived at the port of
Baltimore, from Bremen, Germany, on August 15th 1867.Unfortunately Johann did
not survive the trip. The ship's record shows that he died on July 27th of that
same year.
Ships manifest shows the following family members:
Johann Dietz was born abt. 1813
Sabina Anselm (Dietz) was born abt 1824
Phillip Peter Dietz was born abt 1847
Henrich Dietz was born May 18, 1849
Johann Dietz was born abt 1858
Franz Dietz was born abt 1860
August Dietz was born abt 1862
Sabina, Peter and Henry (Henrich) are found in a marriage records of St.
Alphosus Catholic Church in Baltimore.Philip Peter Dietz, son of Johann Dietz
and Sabina Anselm, married Anna Dorothy Rocklein on September 2 1873, witnessed
by his brother Henry Dietz and Ann Heimberger. The groom was listed as born in
Niedermörlen in Chur Hesse.
Let me know if you think my Dietz are related to those discussed by all of you.
Thanks
